Red Bull and Toro Rosso announce 2020 driver line up

In press releases today, Red Bull and Toro Rosso both confirmed their driver line ups for the 2020 Formula One season. Both teams will retain the same line up that they have now, switched before the Belgian Grand Prix. Alex Albion will return to partner Max Verstappen, while Pierre Gasly will remain at Toro Rosso with Russian Daniil Kyvat.
Albon has impressed enough at Red Bull to retain the seat he has had for half the season, finishing no lower than 6thsince making the switch. In another bonus for the teams, Gasly has been more consistent since moving back to Toro Rosso. Verstappen was contracted beyond the 2019 season and this year Kyvat achieved the second podium of the Scuderia’s history in Germany.
Released via the teams website, Red Bull stated they were “impressed with his (Albon) approach in all areas” Alex Albon added “I am really excited to be partnering Max again.”
Toro Rosso titled their press release “Continuity Is The Name Of The Game.” The statement read “both drivers have proven their capabilities throughout the 2019 season”, team principal Franz Tost praised the pair: “I’m delighted to retain Pierre and Daniil for next season. Both drivers have shown really good performances this season and they have proven in their years in F1 to be very competitive.”
Both teams will be looking to improve in 2020. Red Bull will be looking at being more competitive with Mercedes and Ferrari on all circuits. Meanwhile Toro Rosso will be changing their name to Alpha Tauri for the 2020 season and will inevitably looming to mark its inaugural season with good results.
